Java is the word for coffee from Java also the birthplace of Indonesia's specialty coffee.
Java is the oldest coffee producing island in which the tree still indigenous, was producing high-grade coffee long before Brazil and Latin America enter the industries; and it held the supremacy in the world's trade for many years before the younger American producing country were able to surpass annual output.
Arabica Java coffee production is centered on the Ijen plateau, at the eastern end of Java highland, at an altitude of more than 1,100 meters. The coffee is primarily grown on large estates that were built by the Dutch in the 18th century. The five largest estates are Blawan, Jampit, Pancoer, Kayumas and Tugosari and they cover more than 4,000 hectares. Java estate coffee have smaller bean size compare to Sumatra, but still producing the world best cup of Java.
